A Testimony By Jesseka
In 2021, I went through a really rough patch where my family and I experienced serious financial difficulties. My business partner and I had accumulated a massive debt amounting to hundreds of thousands of dollars after our business and investments collapsed. I remembered receiving piles of lawyers’ letters during this period.
I had lost everything. All that we have built over the years was gone.
At that time, my heart was very heavy, and my world seemed dark. Even though I had two young children – a three year old daughter and a ten year old son waiting for me at home, I found myself driving alone every day just to avoid going home until evening time.
I felt that my life was over and the pain was unbearable. At one point, I even considered ending my life. Whenever that thought entered my mind, I was numb. I felt isolated and I couldn’t confide in others, thinking that nobody would understand and that everyone would ridicule me,
I was deeply superstitious and tried everything possible to improve my situation from fortune telling to feng shui and many others, but nothing worked. One silent night, I sat in the corridor, looking up at the dark sky. I cried out, “Is there a real God who can come down and save me? If you are real, can you come and save me?”
The next day, a former client, Isabella, whom I had known for a few years, called me. She asked if I would be keen to help her by being a candidate for a class she was taking called Conversational Evangelism. Apparently, my name had come to mind when she prayed about it. She told me that the class was about Jesus Christ and assured me that it would be simple—I just had to respond during a role-play exercise.
That night, a thought struck me: “Could Jesus be God? Is He the one who heard my cry and wanted to save me?”
Isabella shared the gospel with me over Zoom. Her facilitator was there too, and she also shared her testimony which was coincidentally similar to my situation. However, with God, she found clam and peace in her situation. By the end of the session, when Isabella asked if I wanted to accept Jesus as my Savior, I readily agreed.
From that moment, Jesus began to prepare a new path for me. Even with my limited resources, He showed me grace as I set up a new business and provided for me by sending two capable staff members to help. Others also rallied around me to support me during this period and miraculously, I was also able to clear my debts. Since that day, I have not stopped sharing this good news with everyone: my friends, relatives and clients. My testimony about God’s grace resonated with them and many accepted Jesus as their Saviour and Lord.
My small Group leaders encouraged me to attend the Conversational Evangelism Course in October 2022. I invited my husband to be my candidate for the course. In the past, every time I tried to share the gospel with him, it always ended in quarrels. But to my amazement and joy, he accepted Jesus as his Lord & Saviour that very day.
My husband had been a smoker for twenty-six years. He also struggled with gambling and drinking. After his salvation, he quit all his addictions. God transformed him from the inside out.
He was no longer quick-tempered. He regularly prays for repentance, and the Holy Spirit has moved in his heart, making him a Godly husband and father. My 12-year-old son was baptized together with him in church in 2023.
Jesus not only saved me—He saved my entire family.
God’s truth has set me free! Thank you, Jesus Christ! I was once dead, but I am now made alive in Christ. My heart is cheerful, and I worship Him with joy and thanksgiving.
I have learned to cast my cares on God, trusting Him to carry my burdens.
